Terms of Sale
1. These terms and who we are
These Terms of Sale (“Terms”) are a contract between you and PreFire Systems LLC (“PreFire,” “we,” “us” or “our”). They apply when you buy anything through course.prefiresystems.com and when you use the customer course portal at learn.prefiresystems.com (together, the “Services”).
By placing an order you confirm that you have read these Terms, our Disclaimer, our Privacy Policy and our Refund Policy, and that you agree to them. You also confirm that you are at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract. If you do not agree, do not place an order.
2. What you are buying
We sell two things on this site:
- The Complete DIY Installation Course (the “Course”): a digital video course with printable field guides and checklists, delivered through the course portal. Nothing is shipped.
- The Course + Pre-Built Master Hub Bundle (the “Bundle”): the Course, plus one full PreFire Master Hub, including its main line and manifold, built to order in the zone configuration you select (2, 4 or 6 zones), plus one copy of The Book on Wildfire Protection. The Hub and the book are shipped to you.
The Master Hub is not sold separately. The Course is the same in both products; the difference is whether you build the Hub yourself following the Course or receive one already built.
The Master Hub, with its main line and manifold, is the start of a PreFire system, not a complete kit. A working installation also needs laterals, fittings, sprinklers, nozzles, a controller, mounting hardware and other materials that depend on your property and that you source yourself. The Course teaches you how to choose and install them. Descriptions of the Hub on this site, including which components may ship detached, are as stated on the sales page at the time you order.
3. Ordering, prices and payment
Prices are shown in US dollars. The price of the Course includes everything you receive. The price of a Bundle includes shipping to your US address. Launch prices shown on the sales page apply to orders placed by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on October 31, 2026; after that, the regular prices apply. Sales tax may be added at checkout, depending on your state, and is your responsibility.
Payment is taken in full at the time of order by Stripe, our payment processor, using the payment methods Stripe offers at checkout. We never see or store your card details. By paying you confirm that you are authorised to use the payment method.
Your order is accepted when we send you an order confirmation by email. Until then we may decline an order for any reason, including suspected fraud, an error in the price or description, or a destination we cannot ship to. If we decline an order after payment, we refund it in full.
Errors. If a price or description on the site is obviously wrong and you could reasonably have recognised it as an error, we may cancel the order and refund you rather than supply at the wrong price. We may change prices at any time, but a change does not affect an order we have already accepted.
4. Course access
After your order is accepted we email your course access to the email address you used at checkout, within 1 business day. Keep that email address current, since it is how we reach you about your access.
Access period. Your access to the Course continues for as long as we offer the Course, and in any event for at least two years from the date of purchase. If we ever retire the Course, we will give you at least 90 days’ notice by email and a reasonable way to download the printable materials.
One person, one account. Course access is personal to you, the buyer, for use in relation to property you own or occupy. A household may share one account for one installation. You may not share your access link or account with anyone else, and you may not use one purchase to train employees, customers or clients. If we see an account being shared, we may suspend it.
Content changes. We may update, add to, reorganise or correct the Course at any time. We may also remove content that is out of date or superseded, provided the Course as a whole continues to teach what it teaches today. Updates are included in your access.
Availability. We aim to keep the portal available at all times but cannot promise it. It may be down for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control. You need an internet connection and a current browser to use it.
5. How you may use the course content
The Course, the field guides, the book, the videos, the text, the diagrams, the Hub design and everything else we supply (the “Content”) are owned by PreFire and Tim Murphy and are protected by copyright and other laws. Buying the Course does not transfer ownership of any of it to you.
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to:
- stream and view the Course through the portal;
- download and print the field guides, worksheets and checklists for your own use;
- use what you learn to design, build, install, test and maintain a PreFire system on property you own or occupy.
You may not:
- copy, record, download, screenshot or redistribute the videos or any other Content, except the printables for your own use;
- share, sell, rent, lend or give away your access or any Content;
- post the Content, in whole or in part, anywhere public or private, including forums, social media, file-sharing sites or AI training sets;
- use the Content to create or deliver your own course, training, consulting or installation service, or to teach others for money;
- manufacture, sell, or offer to build Master Hubs or PreFire systems for other people. The PreFire Ember Dousing System is patent pending. Your license is for your own property only;
- remove any copyright, trademark or patent notice.
If you break these rules we may end your access without refund, and we reserve all other rights and remedies.
6. The Master Hub: build, shipping and delivery
Built to order. Each Master Hub is built after you order it, in the configuration you selected. Choosing the configuration is your decision, made using the planning modules of the Course. We can describe the configurations; we cannot design your system for you. Estimated production and shipping times are shown on the sales page and in your order confirmation. They are estimates, not promises, and they can be affected by component supply and order volume. If your Hub will be materially later than the estimate, we will tell you.
Cancelling a Hub order. You may cancel a Bundle order for a full refund at any time before we begin building your Hub. Once production has begun, cancellation and returns are governed by our Refund Policy. Course access granted with a cancelled Bundle ends when the refund is issued.
Shipping. We currently sell in the United States only and ship Master Hubs to US addresses only, using the carriers and services we select. Shipping is included in the Bundle price. You are responsible for giving us a complete, accurate delivery address and for being able to receive a large package. Re-delivery or re-shipping caused by an incorrect address or a missed delivery is charged to you.
Risk and ownership. Ownership of the Hub and the book passes to you when we receive payment in full. Risk of loss or damage passes to you when the carrier delivers to your address. We insure or track every shipment.
Check it on arrival. Inspect the package and the Hub when it is delivered. If anything is damaged, missing or not what you ordered, tell us within 7 days of delivery, with photographs of the packaging and the damage, and keep the packaging until we have replied. We will repair, replace or refund at our choice. Damage reported after that window, or after the Hub has been installed, is handled under the warranty in section 7 if it is a defect, and otherwise is not our responsibility.
Detached components. Some parts may ship detached for safe transit and need to be fitted on arrival following the Course. That is normal and is not a defect.
7. Warranty
Master Hub limited warranty. We warrant to you, the original buyer, that the Master Hub will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for 12 months from the date of delivery. If a defect appears in that period, contact us with your order number, a description and photographs. If we agree it is a defect, we will at our choice repair the Hub, replace the defective part or the Hub, or refund the Hub portion of your Bundle price. Shipping of a replacement part is at our cost; if we ask you to return the Hub, we will tell you how and who pays for the return. That is your sole remedy.
The warranty does not cover:
- damage from installation, use or maintenance that does not follow the Course;
- freezing, water hammer, over-pressure, debris, corrosion from water chemistry, or exposure beyond what the Course specifies;
- fire, flood, lightning, wildlife, accident, neglect or misuse;
- modification, disassembly beyond what the Course instructs, or repair by anyone we did not authorise;
- normal wear, including seals, filters and batteries;
- components you sourced yourself, or any part of your installation other than the Hub;
- a Hub that was resold or moved to a different property.
The Course, the book and the portal are provided “as is” and without any warranty, except that we will provide the access described in section 4. The performance of a system you build or install is not warranted by anyone. Read the Disclaimer.
Some jurisdictions give consumers warranty rights that cannot be limited. Nothing in this section removes rights you have that the law says cannot be removed.
8. Refunds and cancellations
Refunds, returns and cancellations for both the Course and the Bundle are governed by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms. In summary, the Course is a digital product with an eligibility window stated in the Refund Policy, and a Hub can be cancelled for a full refund before production begins. Refunds are issued to the payment method you used, through Stripe.
9. Your responsibilities
You agree that you will:
- give us accurate contact and delivery information and keep it current;
- find out and comply with the permits, codes, water-use rules and homeowner-association requirements that apply to your property;
- work safely, within your abilities, and use licensed professionals where your skills or the law require it;
- install, test and maintain any system according to the Course;
- follow evacuation orders and never rely on a system as a reason to stay;
- use the Services only for lawful purposes and only as these Terms allow.
You are responsible for the design, installation, operation and maintenance of any system you build, and for any claims, damage or loss that arise from them, including claims by other people. If someone brings a claim against us because of your installation or your breach of these Terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it.
10. Disclaimer of warranties and limits on liability
Except for the limited warranty in section 7 and anything the law does not let us exclude, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the Services or the Content, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. No wildfire-protection system can guarantee a home will survive a wildfire, and we make no promise about how any system you build will perform.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PreFire, Tim Murphy and anyone working with us are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive loss, or for any loss of property, fire damage, injury, death, code violation, insurance consequence, lost profit or lost data, arising from the Services, the Content, a Master Hub, or any system you design, build, install, operate or maintain, however caused, even if we were told it might happen.
Our total liability to you for everything arising from your purchase, on any legal basis, is limited to the amount you paid us for that purchase.
Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these limits. Where that is the case, our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law allows, and nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.
11. Intellectual property
“PreFire”, the PreFire wordmark and the names of our products are trademarks of PreFire Systems LLC. The PreFire Ember Dousing System is the subject of a pending patent application. The Book on Wildfire Protection is copyright Tim Murphy. Nothing in these Terms gives you any right to use our names, marks or designs except as section 5 allows, and nothing gives you any right to manufacture, sell or distribute PreFire systems or components.
12. Your account and our communications
We will email you about your order, your course access, shipping, and material changes to the Course or these Terms. Those emails are part of the service and you will receive them while you are a customer. We only send marketing email if you agree to it, and every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. How we handle your information is described in our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for keeping your access link and email account secure. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used your access.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and the federal laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you also keep any protections of your local law that cannot be taken away by agreement.
Talk to us first. If you have a problem, contact us and we will try to sort it out with you within 30 days. Most problems are solved this way.
If we cannot resolve it, either of us may bring a claim in the state or federal courts located in California, and you agree to their jurisdiction. Either of us may instead use small-claims court where the claim qualifies. Each of us agrees to bring claims only individually and not as part of a class or representative action, to the extent the law allows.
14. General
- Whole agreement. These Terms, the Refund Policy, the Disclaimer and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about your purchase and replace anything said before.
- Changes. We may update these Terms. The version in force when you order is the one that applies to that order. We will post the new version here and update the date at the top.
- Transfer. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms to anyone else. We may transfer ours to a successor of the business.
- Severability. If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a term at some point, we can still enforce it later.
- Events outside our control. We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by things outside our reasonable control, including wildfire, weather, carrier failure, supply shortages, utility outages or government action.
