Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy is issued by PreFire Systems LLC (“PreFire,” “we,” “us” or “our”). It covers the PreFire DIY Installation Course sales page at course.prefiresystems.com, the purchase of the course and Master Hub bundles offered on it, and the customer course portal at learn.prefiresystems.com (together, the “Services”).
It explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the Services you agree to the practices described here.
2. What we collect
Information you give us when you buy
Checkout is handled by Stripe, our payment processor. During checkout Stripe collects your:
- name and email address;
- billing address;
- shipping address, phone number and any delivery notes, if your order includes a Master Hub;
- payment card or other payment details.
Stripe passes your name, email address, billing and shipping address, and the details of what you ordered to us. Stripe does not pass us your full card number, and we never store it. Stripe’s handling of your payment details is governed by its own privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
Information created when you access the course
After purchase we create a course account for you at learn.prefiresystems.com, tied to the email address you used at checkout. We send access to that address as a sign-in link. We keep a record of the email address, the purchase it is linked to, and when the link was sent and used.
Information you send us directly
If you contact us with a question, a support request or feedback, we keep the message and your contact details so that we can reply and keep a record of the conversation.
Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, our hosting provider records basic technical details when a page is requested: your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the time. These logs are used for security and to keep the site running. We do not use them to build a profile of you.
3. How we use it
We use personal information to:
- Complete your order: take payment, send your order confirmation and, for Hub bundles, build, pack and ship your Master Hub and send shipping updates.
- Give you the course: create your course account, send your access link, and keep your access working.
- Support you: answer questions, resolve problems with an order or with course access, and handle refund requests.
- Tell you about what you bought: notify you of updates, corrections or additions to the course materials or to the Master Hub documentation.
- Meet our legal obligations: keep tax and accounting records, respond to lawful requests, and prevent fraud.
We will only send you marketing email, such as news about other PreFire products, if you have agreed to receive it. Every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe. Emails about your order or your course access are not marketing, and you will receive them for as long as you are a customer.
6. How long we keep it
- Order and payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, generally seven years.
- Course account details are kept for as long as your course access lasts, and for a short period afterwards so that access can be restored if you ask.
- Support correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful for helping you and for a reasonable period afterwards.
- Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period and then deleted automatically.
7. How we protect it
The site and the course portal are served over HTTPS. Payments are processed by Stripe, which is certified to the PCI DSS Level 1 standard, and card details never reach our systems. Access to customer records is limited to the people who need it to fulfil orders and provide support.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If we become aware of a breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.
8. Your choices and rights
You can, at any time, ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong or out of date;
- delete your information, subject to records we must keep by law;
- stop sending you marketing email.
To make a request, contact us using the details in section 14. We will need to confirm that you are the person the information relates to, usually by replying from the email address on the order. We aim to answer within 30 days.
Deleting your information will end your access to the course, since your account is what your access is tied to.
9. California residents
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Sections 2, 3 and 5 above describe what we collect, why, and who receives it.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the preceding twelve months. Because we do not sell or share, there is no opt-out to offer.
You may make a request yourself or through an authorised agent using the contact details in section 14.
10. Visitors outside the United States
PreFire is based in the United States, and the Services are operated from there. If you visit or buy from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process your information on these legal bases: to perform our contract with you (taking your order and giving you the course), to comply with law (tax records), for our legitimate interests (site security, answering your questions, fraud prevention), and, for marketing email, your consent. You have the rights described in section 8, plus the right to object to processing, to ask for your data in a portable form, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
11. Children
The Services are intended for adults. The course teaches the installation of a home wildfire protection system, and purchases can only be made by people old enough to enter into a contract. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Links to other sites
This site links to other PreFire properties, including prefiresystems.com and wildfireguide.com, and to third parties such as Stripe. Each of those sites has its own privacy policy, and this policy does not apply to them.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Services change or as the law requires. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. If a change materially affects how we use information we already hold about you, we will tell you by email before the change takes effect.
